World Toilet Day 2019

November 19, 2019

One of the Hydroflux’s core business activities is the design and construction of robust sewage treatment plants for remote communities. For many decades now, Hydroflux has been providing small towns and villages access to effective sanitation facilities that vastly improves the villager’s quality of life whilst contributing to the improvement of the local environment.

Created in 2001 by the World Toilet Organization, and made an official UN day in 2013, World Toilet Day is celebrated every year on 19 November, and is about encouraging action to solve the global sanitation crisis and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 to ensure access to water and sanitation for all. World Toilet Day 2019’s theme, Leaving No One Behind, draws attention to people living without sanitation.

It may seem funny to have a day all about toilets, but sanitation is a human right, and today there are 4.2 billion people living without safely managed sanitation.

Key Facts

  • 4.2 billion people, more than half of the world’s population, live without Safely Managed sanitation.
  • Globally, at least two billion people use a faecal-contaminated drinking water supply
  • 673 million people throughout the world are still committing open defecation.

The Hydroflux Group is a team of water and wastewater treatment experts harnessing the power of world leading research and technologies for a more sustainable use of water, energy and resources. The Hydroflux Group fully supports the UN’s World Toilet Day and its goal to “Leave No One Behind”.
